2 down, 2 to go (Yanks 4, Angels 3. Yankees lead ALCS 2-0)

A 13 inning game is almost impossible to summarize. How can you put it all together? A.J.'s roller coaster outing? The relief corps coming through? The Mo takeover? Another Robertson escape? More A-Rod redemption? Angel miscues? Pie for Hairston?
I don't know. At first AJ cruised and then in the 5th his curveball left him. I was shouting at the TV about all the millions we've paid a man who can't locate his curveball in the ALCS (analysis here). AJ managed to escape, but the offense was quiet. Almost quiet....(El Capitan!)
Teixeira made play after amazing play at first base, enough so that a highlight reel, only of his plays, could be compiled by MLB.com. But his bat was quiet.
Once the score was tied and AJ had thrown too many pitches, in came Joba. And Hughes. And the power pitches, and fist pumps, and suddenly it was Mo time with 2 gone in the 8th. One pitch later the Yankees were safe again, but the offense was quiet.
Mo took over in the dugout, rallying the troops. He became the field general in the 10th. It was Mo's game all the way.
But the offense was quiet. The rain came. Figgins drove in the go-ahead run in the 11th. The Angels celebrated wildly, punching the air and congratulating each other like they'd won something. I almost thought they'd start piling on.
And that's when the offense spoke. Fuentes came in to face A-Rod, and quickly got ahead 0-2. But the bright lights of the big city once again got into the Angels' heads. Fuentes grooved a slow fastball down the middle, one that A-Rod jacked over the wall to tie the game again. Yankee Stadium came alive, and from there, fans could feel it: It was only a matter of time.
The game went on, now into the next morning as the rain continued. Robertson escaped another jam. Marte came in and got something done. In fact everyone got into the game besides Chad Gaudin.
And finally in the 13, more than 5 hours after the first pitch, the Yankees won. Hairston had singled, then reached second. Melky grounded one into the hole and Isturis tried to get the force at 2nd. But Aybar could not corral it, the ball skipped away towards Figgins, Hairston rounded third and dashed for home, Figgins couldn't handle the ball, and he never even made a throw, as Hairston scored, the Yankees won, and AJ pied him in the face, a perfect ending to a fall classic and a wild, unforgettable Yankee victory (pie video here).
