Questions for the baseball reporters...

The baseball reporters for the NY Times were fielding questions on the blog yesterday. Here's my question.

Tyler (Kepner),

With the long break, and knowing who they’re facing (rather than having to wait for a 5 game series to conclude) I’m curious about what the coaches and players are up to. Long vacations? Countless hours poring over video tape? Short workouts, long workouts? What kinds of things are they doing to prepare?

Well, they traveled on Monday. They had an optional workout on Tuesday. Players who were used very little or not at all reported to the Stadium for throwing or BP (Gaudin, Aceves, Coke, Marte, Robertson, Hinske, Gardner, Cervelli, Hairston) and a couple of regulars like Damon and Swisher showed up. Today and Thursday they have mandatory workouts, and by Friday they’ll have had plenty of time to go over the detailed scouting reports. So no vacations during the postseason a la Tony Romo. — Tyler
