The CC Train has arrived (Yanks 4, Angels 1. Yanks lead ALCS 1-0)

“The cold had nothing to do with it,” said the Angels’ Torii Hunter. “It was just C. C. He was the cold.”

Yeah. CC Sabathia shut down the vaunted Angels lineup and either Jeter or Matsui was involved in every Yankee score that gave the Yankees the victory, 4 to 1. A-Rod also contributed, though he made probably the most memorable play in the game, running through a the stop sign and plowing into Mathis. Here's the video, but I"m warning you, McCarver is extremely annoying.

But tonight's game ball, if the Yankees give one, should go to CC Sabathia for sure. Under the bright lights of the ALCS in New York City, in the New Yankee Stadium, CC Sabathia came through when the team needed him most, pitching 8 blistering innings and retiring every single hitter the Angels threw at him, including both catchers, the last of which gave rise to a big fist pump and a roar from the NY crowd.

At the same time the Angels looked starstruck, unable to comprehend the enormity of the moment and seemingly afraid of the bright NY lights and the pinstripes lit up under them. I mean, Lackey was glaring at his infielders at one moment and throwing balls away the next.

All in all the Angels played the worst baseball I've seen them play in a long time, making error after costly error. I mean, it was clear to all that the Anaheim Angels just weren't ready for prime time.

It's hard to be ready for prime time, but they could have done better. The Yankees were ready for prime time, why weren't the Angels? Why?

Anyway lots of highlights to look over. I'm becoming a fan of MLB.com's Jim Duquette, who does intelligent, informative analysis of key aspects of each game. I'll be posting his stuff when appropriate.

Go Yankees, and let's get the second one in the Bronx.
