It's up to you, New York, New Yoooorrrkk!!! (Yanks 7, Twins 2. Yankees lead ALDS 1-0)

It's up to you , Captain October. The Twins couldn't get him out. After a single and a home run on three pitches, the Twins gave up, pitching around and walking him twice afterwards ... the Bonds treatment. Jeter's line: 2 for 2 with 2 walks, 3 runs scored, and 2 RBI. "It's fitting," Girardi said. "That's Derek Jeter at this time of the year." With the Yankees down 2-0 in the 3rd inning, Jeter launched a no-doubt-about-it home run to left field, further cementing his legacy as one of the greatest pressure performers (and one of the greatest players) in baseball history. El Capitan!!! (An old school perspective of Jeter from the NY Times Lens blog)

It's up to you, A-Rod. Two hits and two RBIs, both RBIs coming when Jeter was in scoring position. That is his job, after all. To drive Jeter in. In the postseason.

It's up to you, Teixeira. 0 for 4 with 5 men left on base and a double play ground ball. At least he brought his glove, but if that's all he's gonna bring to the playoffs he can stay the f home.

It's up to you, Matsui. With the score 4-2 Godzilla crushed a towering blast into monument park. Yeah, give that man a bat and a pressure situation and he'll get it done.

It's up to you, Girardi. Joe Girardi was masterful with the bullpen, letting Coke, Hughes and Joba all get their feet wet and allowing them to have some success to prepare them for the sterner tests ahead.

It's up to you, Posada. A so-so night at the plate and a passed ball to allow the go-ahead run early in the game. This guy needs to get it together.

It's up to you, CC. 6.2 IP, 8 hits, 1 earned run and 8 strikeouts. The Twins lineup was tough tonight, but CC navigated through it, seemingly without his best stuff, like a pro. Almost like...a champion.

And it's up to you, Swisher. With the score tied at 2, it was Swisher who came through with a double to score Cano and catapult the Yankees into a lead that they would not relinquish. Standing out at second Swisher shouted, pumped his fist and clapped his hands with the kind of enthusiasm you normally only see from underdogs or young teams.

Damon, Teixeira, Posada, Burnett, Pettitte. Now it's your turn. It's gonna be up to you Friday night at Yankee Stadium. The New Yankee Stadium, that is...symbol of perhaps a new era in Yankee baseball, an era where the Yankees once again perform at their best when it matters most.
