The Playoff Roster

From what I've gathered, Pena, Bruney, and Mitre will sit out the ALDS. Molina will catch Burnett, with Posada on the bench ready to come in as a pinch-hitter/replacement for Molina once Burnett is finished. That's because over the course of the year, Burnett's BAA is 50 points lower when Molina is catching.

And the Yankees have selected schedule "A", which means that the ALDS could be an 8 day affair, with CC and Burnett starting games 1,2,4, and 5 on regular rest, and Pettitte starting game 3.

I think a lot of Yankee fans are apprehensive right now about the playoffs. And guess what? They should be. The Yankees have had no success in the playoffs for the past 5 years. Teams with less talent but more heart and more energy have come out and embarrassed the Bombers year after year.

This year, with Burnett, CC and a healthy lineup, can be different. It can be different. But the Yankees will have to execute, with the understanding that if they don't play at their very best, with the same intensity, drive, and enthusiasm as their younger opponents, they will lose.
